Bobby Horton and MYO -- What a treat!
Here's the press release for the first MYO concert:
The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Central Alabama (MYO) will open its inaugural season with a concert on Sunday, September 23rd in the Cabaniss Fine Arts Center on The Altamont School’s campus beginning at 3 p.m. The theme for this season opener is, “Music in Time of War” and will feature guest artist, Bobby Horton. The concert will begin with the MYO performing works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Sheldon and Barnes. After intermission Mr. Horton will be lecturing on music during the Civil War, performing solo pieces, with a combo and with the MYO.
Admission is $5 for adults and free for those 12 and under. Mr. Horton will also be autographing CDs, photos and whatever else he can bring from home. Seating will be limited so arrive early.
