Thank you, AJHOF!

We will no longer be teaching at the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. This decision has many components and involved much discussion and deliberation. The students coming to the Carver Theater are very special to us. They show commitment and consistency and we love each and every one. The staff at the Jazz hall has been wonderful, especially Evelyn Love, the administrative assistant.

With school starting, the time that was available at the Carver to teach was so short that we were having difficulty giving the many students the quality instruction that they deserve. In addition, the proximity to Cave9, our other free public location, suggested to us that we could best use our funds serving a population we aren't reaching yet. We are investigating possible locations on the east side of town and hope to be able to announce classes soon. Watch this blog and the website for news.

At Cave9 this weekend we welcomed back Allyson and Kayla to teach. Allyson was excited to find her friends, Hamilton and Elliot, sharing the Cave9 experience. Peter and Matthew also tried their hand at teaching through the cacophony that is Cave9. (Don't want to forget Nick and Jimmy and Harry, hardened veterans.)

Grace auditioned for MCYO and her cello skills made quite an impression on Armani. It looks like Thurston and Shaina will also be part of MCYO. THIS IS SO EXCITING! The orchestras are becoming deep and diverse much faster than we thought possible.

Here is a video by Armani and Rashawn from this last weekend. I know Rashawn will be disappointed that I didn't include his dancing prowess or the many close-up shots of his own face. I suspect the typical viewer is not so disappointed.
