Your group will be set up in the lower lobby, in front of the Sirote Theater entrance. They will perform from 1:45 to 2:15, and we will give them tickets to the concert after their performance. If some of your kids are interested, it would be great to have them around the area starting at 1:30 to talk to younger kids and demonstrate their instruments.

An Apple for Valentine's Day

Show someone your love and appreciation while, at the same time, supporting the MYO!

How about giving the wonderful people in your life a special Valentine’s treat? A crisp, juicy, Granny Smith apple, dipped in caramel, rolled in nuts, covered in a thick layer of dark chocolate, and drizzled with white chocolate. What’s more, it looks stunning wrapped in cellophane, tied with a ribbon and decorated with charms. This home-made, delicious gourmet treat weighs more than a pound and a half, and lasts for at least two weeks when refrigerated.

Proceeds from this sale will benefit the metropolitan Youth Orchestras of Central Alabama, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing musical talent in the youth of central Alabama. Apples are $25 a piece. (Smaller ones sell for $30 or more in gift shops nationwide). Orders are due by Friday, Feb. 6. We will hand deliver them to you Feb 11-13.

If you are interested, please email.

Happy New Year!
We so appreciate Casey and Tyler posting quality content on this blog. Feel free to join in with comments or your own content.

Don't forget that Scrollworks' free music lessons are moving with Cave9 to 105 Richard Arrington S, 2nd floor over Greencup Books. We'll be there Friday, January 2 at 2 pm with an open house. Come check it out!

Here is a piece from Jason Heath's Double Bass Blog, written by guest author Peter Tambroni:
A Student's Guide to Learning a New Piece

We have not posted promised new pieces for the new year due to illness and technical difficulties.
With the challenges we faced last semester, I hope everyone will be patient as we recharge our batteries.
We are all very excited about where we will be able to go musically this spring!
